At twelve years old, Lizzie developed a rare autoimmune disorder that changed her life. Working with a service dog did not just help her manage the condition — it showed her what was possible. That experience is the reason Clever Canine exists, and the reason she does this work. Lizzie leads all service dog training at Clever Canine. Her own experience as a handler gives her a perspective that goes well beyond technique: she understands the daily logistics, the emotional weight, and the difference the right dog makes to a person's independence. She works with clients across Metro Detroit on autism, PTSD and anxiety, mobility, and medical alert tasks — building each programme around the person rather than a curriculum. She is also the reason the answers here are direct. Lizzie would rather tell someone at the start that a service dog is not the right path than take them eighteen months down one that was never going to work.
