We didn’t start Clever Canine because it seemed like a good business idea. We started it because our family needed it — and once we discovered what was possible, we couldn’t keep it to ourselves.
Our Story: Why We Started Clever Canine
Before helping Metro Detroit families transform their relationships with their dogs, my life looked completely different.
I’m Mandy Majchrzak — founder of Clever Canine, mom of 9 amazing kids (5 adopted from foster care). Life was full and busy, the way I liked it. Then one day, everything changed.
My daughter Lizzie, at just 12 years old, developed a rare autoimmune disorder that turned our world upside down. We needed a service dog — fast. And in searching for one, we discovered something that would change the course of our entire family’s life.

I also discovered something: finding reliable dog training information was nearly impossible. The internet was flooded with one-size-fits-all approaches, guaranteed quick fixes, and “just do this ONE thing” solutions. Most of them don’t work in real life.
After working with countless dogs in Oakland County and across Metro Detroit, here’s what I know for certain: every dog is different, every family is different, every situation is different. That’s why we built something different.

Mandy founded Clever Canine out of necessity — and turned that necessity into Metro Detroit’s most effective family dog training program. Her Canine Connection Compass system is at the heart of everything we do. She brings warmth, directness, and a deep commitment to no-judgment training that meets every dog and family where they are.
Lizzie Majchrzak
Lizzie’s journey is the reason Clever Canine exists. After developing a rare autoimmune disorder at age 12 and working with a service dog trainer, she discovered an extraordinary gift for working with dogs. Today she leads our service dog training program — bringing rare expertise and genuine personal passion to every client she works with.
Emma Majchrzak
Emma specializes in family dog training and leads Clever Canine’s Agility classes. Her approach is practical, patient, and built around the reality of your daily life — not just what works in a training room. She meets every dog and family where they are, and her results speak for themselves.
